Welcome to the Rose Building!
The Rose Building -- opened in the late 1940's as Portland's Visitors Information Center -- is now the home of the Portland Rose Festival Foundation.
Tour the newly renovated building and see Rose Festival memorabilia on display, take a guided tour of the new rose garden outside (led by members of the Portland Rose Society), meet the 2010 Rose Festival Court, talk with Living History characters Mayor Harry Lane and Georgiana Pittock and enjoy complimentary cookies (courtesy of Portland Rose Festival Foundation board members).
Open House guests will receive a postcard featuring the neon rose sign, as well as two-for-one coupons for an official Rose Meal from Elmer's Restaurants. Poster artist Christopher Bibby and postcard artist Marla Schroeder will be present to sign their work.
The Open House will feature a ribbon-cutting provided by the Portland Business Alliance and a traditional Royal Rosarian rose planting ceremony in honor of architect John Yeon. Executive Director Jeff Curtis and Commissioner Randy Leonard will welcome guests and members of the media, and Pacific Power representatives will unveil a plaque commemorating the anniversary of the lighting of the neon rose sign on May 22, 2009.
