Te Awamutu Rose & Cultural Festival is an annual event in New Zealand which includes Sport, Culture, Roses, Entertainment, Art & Music (SCREAM). The festival takes place over two weeks in November.
Timisoara, Romania is hosting an Art Exhibition during March 2008 in their City Hall, dedicated to the Rose (the symbol of their city).
The town of Karlovo, Bulgaria is located in the Rose Valley at the southern foot of the Balkan mountains. Here, where ancient Thracian treasures have recently been discovered, roses grow and produce their world-renowned oil (used in making rose perfumes).
The Day of the Roses -- Karlovo's rose festival -- has been celebrated since the beginning of the 20th century. It takes place on the first Saturday of June, with a ritual rose picking demonstration, presentation by the rose queen and court, folk dance and song, rose flavored rakiya (Bulgarian spirit) and kozanak (a sweet bread), festive traditional costumes, demonstrations of rose oil distilling, a traditional crafts and applied arts market and evening concerts and fireworks. This holiday includes visits from foreign tourists from all around the world.
