The Royal Rosarians are Portland's official greeters and ambassadors. In 1911, after serving as official delegates to Seattle's Golden Potlatch Festival, about 70 Portland business and civic leaders formed an organization to welcome important visitors and share goodwill throughout the region. In 1912, 100 Royal Rosarians made their first appearance dressed in white suits, straw hats, and white accessories. Today, the Royal Rosarians partner with the Rose Festival and escort floats and bands in parades.
