The Portland Rose Festival is very excited to announce that we’ll be hosting the first-ever electronic dance party on the Bob Lanphere’s Beaverton Honda Stage for the Starlight After-Party this year! Featuring sounds by Mija (OWSLA), Team Ezy (OWSLA), and Bones (Gotta Dance Dirty), this is a dance party you won’t wanna miss! Join us downtown at Tom McCall Waterfront Park just after the Starlight Parade to keep the party vibes going strong while we continue to celebrate Portland in all of its wonderfully weird glory!
The Starlight After-Party Will Feature:
Based out of Downtown Los Angeles, Mija has established herself as an innovative and fresh new DJ/Producer of this era. Her roots may be based in house music, but nobody puts Mija in a corner. Her genre defying mixtapes and bassline productions keep the masses dancing around the globe. Mija began her career in her hometown Phoenix, where she became a fulltime DJ in early 2012. In 2014 she was invited to perform on Kalliope, a Burning Man art car, at Bonnaroo Music Festival. It was on that car where she serendipitously ran into Skrillex and played a b2b sunrise set. Just a couple months later, Mija won a mix competition to play on the Black Butter Records stage at TomorrowWorld, where her set was recorded, and truly helped build a steady platform for her career.
Few musicians on this planet are able to say that their debut offering is a collaboration with Skrillex on OWSLA, yet only one of them is also credited as the lead A&R for its release. Team EZY, aka Drew Gold, is this enigma – a producer and DJ born, raised, and living in Los Angeles whose decision to prioritize a focused future over fast fame has put him in a position unlike any of his contemporaries.
The Team EZY moniker originally debuted as a duo for a senior project in high school. For the creative assignment, Drew and his buddy Sean translated their love of hip hop into a full album, spending long hours wailing away at their MPC with Drew also putting in his own verses over the top. Following high school, Drew moved to Denver for college where the unique vibes of experimental electronic artists like Pretty Lights and Bonobo infiltrated his musical psyche, synergizing with his hip hop roots and further directing his attention to the more bass-driven side of dance music.
After moving back to LA, Drew got the call to drop everything he was doing to get on a bus tour with Skrillex, and while working numerous roles within the organization over the next five years, Drew travelled around the world, met a ton of people, and, ultimately, became a fully engaged student of dance music, gaining indispensible knowledge and experience for when the time came for him to define himself as an artist. And now is that time.
For almost a decade, Trevor Moffitt aka BONES has helped strengthen the DJ scene in Los Angeles while spreading his sound to cities far and wide. Sharing the stage with the biggest names worldwide, BONES has developed an infectious fusion of house, future, garage, deep, and techno.
In part to founding one of the most influential music outlets in the world, Gotta Dance Dirty™, he also helps manage the event/label NIGHT BASS with AC Slater, and serves as head of U.S. A&R for Sweat It Out Records alongside Sinden and Yolanda Be Cool.
Performing selections from the Star Wars suite by John Williams, Portland Police Bureau Sergeant Jim Quackenbush will provide the setting for Stormtroopers and other Star Wars characters as they “patrol” the audience, stopping to pose for selfies.
