Join Us for the Rose Building Open House on Saturday, May 22
Come and tour the new home of the Portland Rose Festival Foundation, the historic building originally opened in the late 1940′s as Portland’s Visitors Information Center. See festival memorabilia (like princess dresses and the Crown of Rosaria), meet the 2010 Rose Festival Court and Living History characters Mayor Harry Lane and Georgiana Pittock and enjoy home-baked cookies from vintage recipes. Rose Society members will also offer tours of Portland’s newest rose garden outside the building.
At 1:00 p.m. a ribbon-cutting will officially re-open the beautifully restored building, followed by a Royal Rosarian Rose Planting ceremony in honor of architect John Yeon and the unveiling of a commemorative plaque donated by Pacific Power.
All Open House guests will receive a postcard featuring the neon rose sign, as well as coupons for an official Rose Meal from Elmer’s Restaurants. Poster artist Christopher Bibby and postcard artist Marla Schroeder will be present to sign their work. And remember, it’s all FREE!
