After a successful first year as a Rose Festival highlight event, Portland's crowd-pleasing adult choir, the Conchords Chorale, returns for another trip down the aisle into the magical world of movie music. Fittingly staged at the historic Hollywood Theatre, this year's sequel will feature popular selections from 'West Side Story' and 'The Sound of Music' during the 90 melodic minutes. Audiences will delight to special arrangements of songs like 'Tonight' and 'Climb Every Mountain' between entertaining patter from the emcees and visits from 'celebrity' special guests.
An all-volunteer group under the able direction of composer-arranger Don Anderson, the Conchords' mission is to provide the best in vocal entertainment while creating an environment for educational growth and therapeutic services for the senior community as well as for choir members. The group performs all over the Portland metro area during the year, including a highlight holiday concert at The Old Church in SW Portland.
The program will be presented during two concerts, Friday, June 10, 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, June 12, 2:00 p.m. Tickets are currently on sale.
