A New Partnership Lifts the Rose Festival Spirit
Spirit Mountain Casino and the Portland Rose Festival at a joint appearance (in Grand Ronde, Oregon) announced the formation of a new partnership on January 19. Portland’s premier parade — and the signature event in the Rose Festival celebration — will now be known as ‘The Spirit Mountain Casino Grand Floral Parade.’ Already well known to parade fans for their spectacular float designs, Spirit Mountain Casino will now lend its name to one of the nation’s largest all floral parades, with a significant three year commitment.
“The Rose Festival Grand Floral Parade has a rich and storied history and has earned a shining reputation worldwide,” said Rodney E. Ferguson (Spirit Mountain Casino CEO). “Spirit Mountain Casino is honored to be a part of the event’s legacy by becoming the title sponsor of the Grand Floral Parade, which is an annual testament to the immense pride exhibited by Portland, surrounding communities and the entire Northwest.”
“As a volunteer myself, I really appreciate how the support of organizations like Spirit Mountain help make the Rose Festival happen,” said Sue Bunday (2011 Portland Rose Festival President). “Their floats are always spectacular, and I can’t wait to see what they do next.”
In attendance at this special announcement celebration were Rodney E. Ferguson (Spirit Mountain Casino CEO), Jeff Curtis, (Portland Rose Festival Foundation CEO), Randy Dugger (Spirit Mountain Casino COO), Sue Bunday (2011 Portland Rose Festival President), Rose Festival Queen Victoria Dinu, members of the Royal Rosarians and Portland Rose Society, Spirit Mountain Casino employees, Rose Festival Staff members and other special guests.
Spirit Mountain Casino (an enterprise of The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde) opened its doors in October 1995. The casino is located just 90 minutes west of Portland, nestled in the Willamette Valley’s coastal range. It features fine dinning, Oregon’s largest buffet and overnight accommodations in the Spirit Mountain Lodge.
