Princess Announcements Begin This Week!

On Saturday, February 25, fifty-four students returned to Providence Portland Medical Center for a second round of judging to determine the final 15 princess positions for the 2012 Rose Festival Court. With the two metro positions (east and west) already determined, it’s now up to Portland schools to cast the final vote for their candidates. The new princesses will be introduced beginning this coming Thursday. Both Metro positions will be announced during a special event at the Hollywood Theatre on Wednesday, March 21.

Junior and senior girls from class 4A to 6A schools in the tri-county area who have a grade point average of 3.0 or better and 20 hours of verifiable community service were eligible. Due to the closing of Portland’s Marshall High School, the Rose Festival added a second Metro position for eligible candidates in 2012. Each selected Princess will be awarded a $3,500 scholarship courtesy of The Randall Group, which has generously donated to the Rose Festival court scholarship program since 1997. The Rose Festival Court is presented by Pacific Power who provides a mentoring program of female executives matched with the court members, as well as sponsoring the Queen’s Coronation.

The 2012 Portland Rose Festival Queen will be selected at the Queen’s Coronation Saturday, June 9 at 9:30 a.m. just before the Spirit Mountain Casino Grand Floral Parade. (Tickets to this event can be purchased HERE at this website. NOTE: Only patrons seated INDOORS for the Grand Floral Parade will be able to view the Queen’s Coronation.)
