The Rose Festival Appears All Over Town on Saturday, May 10
The Portland Rose Festival will bring excitement to various spots in Portland this coming Saturday,
May 10 — with the 2014 Rose Festival Court presented by Pacific Power appearing in their first parade in St. Johns and the Character Clown Corps presented by Amtrak Cascades entertaining in two different venues during the day.
Amtrak National Train Day: Trains Matter (10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.)
Meet the Rose Festival Character Clown Corps (which includes the new class of 2014) as they make perform at Portland Union Station. Amtrak is celebrating the 7th annual National Train Day. This year, National Train Day activities feature train equipment displays, local exhibitors, model train displays, kid-friendly activities from Chuggington and more. Amtrak invites you and your family to this free event to celebrate trains and train travel, and to share why Trains Matter to us all.

The St. Johns Parade: Magic, Music and Marching! (Beginning at 12:00 noon)
The annual parade has been a tradition in North Portland since 1962. The Rose Festival Princesses will make their parade debut in the 52-year-old St. Johns Parade, a North Portland tradition. They’ll be joined by Queen Hannah Rice (who will be riding on the Royal Rosarian traveling float), plus an appearance by Rose Festival Foundation President Todd Johnston.

Vaudeville Rose (Starts at 7:00 p.m.)
A live stage performance in the traditional style of VAUDEVILLE will include jugglers, clowns, music and fun times at the World Trade Center 2 Auditorium (located in downtown Portland at First and Salmon). This event will feature the three finalists in this year’s exciting Search for Queen Thelma, plus various performances from the Rose Festival Character Clown Corps. Admission is free, but you MUST call in advance for ticket reservations at the Rose Festival office (open Friday, May 9, during work hours): 503.227.2681.
