Several Festival Sanctioned Events Make for a Busy Three Days of Summer
It’s a BRILLIANT event hopping weekend in Portland, as Rose Festival Sanctioned Events open, giving local event junkies three days of outstanding outside fun! Friday, get up before dawn, and catch the Tigard Festival of Balloons launch. Then scoot over to Oregon City, and take in Oregon history at the Oregon City Heritage Days celebration. Saturday, cruise out to Swan Island for a big rig truck driving contest, then cross the river for a festival of recycled art in Vancouver. At lunch-time, stop by and visit with your neighbors at Good in the Hood Multicultural Festival, and then wrap up your weekend with a relaxing Sunday morning at the Royal Rosarians Milk Carton Boat Race at the Westmoreland Park Casting Pond.

Getting out of town this weekend? Stop over at Rockaway Beach for the Chamber’s Annual Pirate and Costume Festival. Get ready to have your Swash Buckled and your Arrrr tested, as the Pirates take the beach.

2017 Oregon Truck Driving Championships showcases the amazing skills of the men and women truckers, as they bring the big rigs off the highways and on to the timed course for prizes and a shot at the nationals in August. Food and Raffle drawings add to the event.

Royal Rosarians Milk Carton Boat Race presented by the Oregon Dairy and Nutrition Council wraps up the weekend with a family fun race to see who can cross the Westmoreland Casting Pond first on a milk carton or two. The event is free to register and free to watch.
