AMERICA’S ORIGINAL PORCH PARADE IS BACK IN 2021!

What is the Porch Parade?
The Portland Rose Festival PARADES have entertained and inspired our community and visitors from around the world for more than 100 years. Each year the spectacular floats, award winning marching bands, talented equestrians, and colorful community groups perform for hundreds of thousands of parade-goers on the streets of Portland. This spring, the Rose Festival will continue to evolve these traditions finding new ways to celebrate community spirit and resilience, and to inspire hope.

The Rose Festival's Parading in Place concept wasn't only popular in Portland, festivals across the country picked up the idea in: San Antonio, Detroit, New Orleans, Mobile, Alabama, and Washington D.C. to name just a few.

Debuting under pandemic conditions in 2020, the Rose Festival Porch Parade and Roses for Hope gardens welcomed more than 400 homes and gardens to the citywide event. This year people can decorate porches and yards with themes representing Rose Festival, local businesses and family fun.

Getting started is FREE and EASY!

Register for the 2021 Porch Parade here. Choose one of the three parade themes or enter your rose garden! Decorate your front porch, front window, yard or walkway. Unleash your creativity and bring a smile to your friends and neighbors!

2021 Porch Parade Categories

Grand Floral Parade - All things grand and floral - a celebration of Portland's floral heritage
Starlight Parade - A sparkly, illuminated display for a nighttime celebration with lights
Junior Parade - Creative concepts and decoration for our kids, done by kids
Rose Garden - Showcase your beautiful flowers for all to see

The Portland Rose Festival has produced an online map that marks the location of each registered Porch (see below), so you can plan a trip around any Portland neighborhood to see and share in the celebration. Unleash your creativity to bring a smile to your friends and neighbors!

Share your photos on social media and use official hashtags for more fun and prizes. Tag your photos with @pdxrosefestival or add the hashtag #PDXporchparade to help us find your images!

Don't forget to add the hashtag #PickmyPorch to submit your entry for prizes!

Residential decorations will be judged, and a sweepstakes prize of two round trip tickets anywhere Alaska Airlines flies will be awarded for best representations of the Rose Festival's three premier parades: the Spirit Mountain Casino Grand Floral Parade, the Portland General Electric/SOLVE Starlight Parade, and the Fred Meyer Junior Parade. Homeowners can use social media to draw attention to their porch with the hashtag #PickmyPorch and tag @PDXRoseFestival.

PORCH PARADERS CAN WIN PRIZES

Winners can capture one of the three Sweepstakes Awards or More!

Your decorated porch could become your TICKET TO RIDE to a fantastic vacation spot or a trip to see your faraway friends or relatives!

THREE creative households participating in the 2021 Rose Festival Porch Parade will win a pair of Alaska Airlines tickets by decorating their homes in the style of Rose Festival's popular parades. Other prizes include the popular official 2021 Rose Festival rose bush, Burst of Hope and special packages for fun at Rose Festival's 2022 CityFair!

(Decisions of the judges will be final.)

Important News:

The last day to register your PORCH -- and to have it decorated -- is Saturday, June 5, at 11:59 p.m.

Don't forget the tag #PickmyPorch -- the LAST DAY to submit your PORCH PHOTO for PRIZES is Thursday, June 10, at 11:59 p.m. You can do this at social media sites Instagram and/or Twitter and/or Facebook, or you should EMAIL a photo (which must be 2MB or smaller) to INFO@rosefestival.org The Judges will convene Friday, June 11, to review all submissions. Announcement of the Winners will be on Saturday, June 12, at 10:00 a.m. on Instagram Live.

Finally, Porch Parade takedown begins Monday, June 14.

See the Displays

Get some exercise and some inspiration - walk around your neighborhood and see who else is taking part in the Porch Parade. Porches will be fully decorated from Monday, May 31 all the way through Sunday, June 13, so there’s plenty of time to get out and see them!

As you explore, remember to take pictures and tag @pdxrosefestival and use #PDXrosefestival, #PDXporchparade, or #rosesforhope on social media so that people who aren't in your neighborhood can see the amazing displays too!

If it's rainy or there's no other displays in your neighborhood, don't worry, just follow @pdxrosefestival on Instagram and check out #PickmyPorch, #PDXporchparade, and #rosesforhope to see the many photos being shared!

To Get Started - Register Your Display

Be sure to register your porch, it's FREE and EASY!
When registered, you'll be added to the Porch Parade Map. A limited production Porch Parade and 2021 Roses for Hope lawn signs will be distributed to early registers during the week of May 24. All decorations should be complete and ready for show by Monday, May 31.

The Rose Festival Porch Parade celebration runs from Monday, May 31 through Sunday, June 13, 2021.
