Historic Hero Leads Danner Memorial Day March

Davy Crockett, one of the many American Heroes at the Battle of the Alamo will lead the second annual Danner Memorial Day March at 1:30 p.m. today carrying a Texas flag that was flown over the historic mission in honor of the Rose Festival April 23, 2010.

Danner Memorial Day March, the Portland Rose Festival’s newest parade, marches down Naito Parkway from the Burnside Bridge to Salmon Springs Fountain at 1:30 p.m. with a commemoration ceremony at 2:15 p.m. that includes the commander of the 41st Brigade, Colonel Dan Hokanson. Oregon Guard Jets flying low over the river as the traditional 21-gun salute echoes from bank to bank will follow a National Moment of Remembrance at 3:00 p.m.

Waterfront Village Rose Spirit three week celebration continues with Barbecue & Brew (June 2 – June 6) and Circus City featuring ClownTown (June 9 – June 13). (Note: Waterfront Village will be closed June 1, June 7 and June 8.)
