Bands

Thank you to all the marching bands that participated in the 2019 Portland Rose Festival! Look for your favorite bands this year at the Starlight Parade on Saturday, June 5, and the Grand Floral Parade on Saturday, June 12, 2021. The Band judging area is located near the Standard building for the Starlight Parade and near Hotel Eastlund for the Grand Floral Parade.


2021 Marching Band Applications Coming Soon

If you’re planning your band’s schedule for the 2020-2021 school year, now’s the time to consider Rose Festival performance opportunities! We are optimistically planning for a great lineup of parades, stages and other opportunities, including:

  • CityFair Performances, various dates and times, May 28-June 13, 2021.
  • Starlight Parade, Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 8:30 p.m.
  • Grand Floral Parade, Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.

The timeline for local and regional high school band applications for 2021 events is TBA.

Band directors will be contacted as application information becomes available. Invitations will be extended following the application deadline (2021 deadline TBA).


Welcome Guest Marching Bands for 2021 and Beyond!

The Portland Rose Festival welcomes appearances from out-of-town marching bands at many of our events! If your band is planning a tour, we encourage you to consider the Portland Rose Festival as an exciting performance destination.

A tour during the Portland Rose Festival can include:

  • Multiple performance opportunities during each festival weekend.
  • Assistance from a local volunteer band host to help you plan your trip.
  • Fun festival opportunities to add an element of play to your tour.
  • Easy access to attractions such as the Oregon Coast, Multnomah Falls and Mt. Hood.
The Portland Rose Festival does not charge a fee to participate in our events, but we do have an application process. Guest Band applications are accepted for up to 3 years prior to the desired festival year. We encourage you to apply early so we can help you plan your trip in advance. Applications for 2021 and 2022 events from guest bands are currently being accepted. Deadline TBA.


Guest bands may apply any time of year for Rose Festival parades. In a typical year, parade applications must be received by November of the year prior to the parade in which you wish to participate. Invitations will be issued after the deadline (2021 deadline TBA).


Elementary, Middle School and Junior High Bands

The Portland Rose Festival has a parade just for you! The Fred Meyer Junior Parade is open to elementary, middle school and junior high bands. Beginning in 2019, band eligibility was set on a 3 year rotation schedule. Participation form, rotation schedule, and more information about the rotation process is available below.
