2015 Rose Festival Court First Round Winners

Valley Catholic and Reynolds girls make first appearance in final round

A special Valentine’s Day card was delivered to 51 young ladies today, as they found out they were selected as finalists for the 2015 Rose Festival Court Program. Up to 104 young ladies completed the first round of judging for the 2015 Rose Festival Court presented by Unitus Community Credit Union Saturday, February 14, at the Providence Portland Medical Center.

Each applicant gave a one minute introduction and a one minute speech to a panel of community volunteer judges. The finalists returned in the afternoon for a final judging session to determine the final Princess candidates to be announced in March.

Junior and senior girls from class 4A to 6A schools in the tri-county area who have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and 20 hours of verifiable community service were eligible. Candidates water trampoline with slide represented the 13 traditional Portland Schools, as well as East Metro (with students from Clackamas and East Multnomah Counties) and West Metro (with students primarily representing Washington County schools). Metro schools represented in Metro West include: Century, Glencoe, Valley Catholic, and Tigard. In Metro East: La Salle Catholic, Lake Oswego, and Reynolds are represented. Nine juniors qualified this year for the final round.

Participating Portland schools will conduct a school wide vote to add to the judging results, and the winning Princesses will be announced between March 3 and March 20. Members of the 2015 Rose Festival Court receive a $3,500 scholarship generously provided by The Randall Group.

Kicking off the largest spectator event day in Oregon, the 2015 Portland Rose Festival Queen will be crowned at the Queen’s Coronation presented by Unitus Community Credit Union Saturday, June 6 at 9:15 a.m., just before the Bank of the West Grand Floral Walk at 9:30 a.m., and the Spirit Mountain Casino Grand Floral Parade at 10:00 a.m. For tickets to the Queen’s Coronation at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum, go HERE, or call 877.789.ROSE (7673).
