Performers Step-It-Up in Fourth Rose City Sing-Off

New Champ Sherwood High School Flips into First Place

Sponsored by Occuscreen and MBank, the Rose City Sing-Off featured a group with one of the most active chorography routines seen on stage, plus a well-blended sound: The Mixolydians (of Sherwood High School) edged out three-time champion Soul’d Out for First Place and the top prize of $750 for their school music program. Soul’d Out (from Wilsonville High School) took Second, winning $500, and Nothing But Treble (from Westview High School) — a student-led all-female group — came in Third, winning $250 for their school.

Seven teams qualified for the competition held Saturday, April 18, at Imago Dei Community Church. The teams checked in at noon for special clinics with professional musicians (including rehearsals and sound checks), before setting up for the 7:00 p.m. performance start. The three finalists will be featured in the Spirit Mountain Casino Grand Floral Parade telecast on Saturday, June 6, on FOX 12 at 10:00 a.m.
