Navy Adds Airborne Dispaly to Thursday Arrival
F-18′s Will Welcome the Navy with a Flyover of Downtown Portland
There will be a two-plane flyover of the waterfront Thursday afternoon (3:45), as the ships are arriving. Coordinated and requested by Portland NTAG, the flight will be two Growlers (F-18′s) who will fly up the river then turn and come back at 1,000 feet. (Permits have been secured by the FFA.)
US Coast Guard ships arrived Wednesday, June 5, 2019, in the afternoon.
The arrival of the US Navy ships and two of Her Majesty’s Canadian Ships to Portland’s Tom McCall Waterfront Park will be on Thursday. June 6, 2019.
Officials will be closing the Steel Bridge on-ramp at NW Davis & NW Naito Parkway at 11:00 a.m.
At 12:00 noon officials will begin closing and diverting the Westside Esplanade bike & pedestrian traffic from Friendship Circle to Burnside Bridge. Individuals will be detoured to Better Naito during this Esplanade closure.
All closures will reopen at Monday morning June 10, 2019, after the US Navy departs.
