Rose Festival Second Weekend is Star-Light, Star-Brighter

The OBF Tap Takeover and CareOregon Starlight Parade Highlight the Weekend

Under a forecast of sun and fun, the Portland Rose Festival opens its second weekend, Friday, June 2, at CityFair with The Oregon Brewers Festival Tap Takeover. Saturday heats up with the American Heart Association Heart Walk in the morning, and a special afternoon meet and greet with the Corgis followed by an open-air concert with the One More Time Around Again Marching Band. As the evening closes in, the 2023 CareOregon Starlight Parade will step off right after the costume optional Toyota Starlight Run.

CityFair weekend opens at 12:00 noon Friday, June 2, with the Oregon Brewers Festival Tap Takeover, featuring more than 30 craft brews on tap. Access to the OBF is included with CityFair admission. Attendees will be able to buy the 2023 Rose Festival edition Oregon Brewers Festival Mug, filled with a 12-ounce pour from the selection of OBF-curated beers on tap for $12, and every refill thereafter is $7. Cash and cards are accepted as payment, but OBF tokens will not be honored at this event. CityFair admission is $15 at the gate, or $12 online at this website. CityFair hours are 12:00 noon to 9:00 p.m. Friday through Sunday.

Saturday morning, the American Heart Association Heart & Stroke Walk invites walkers to help fight heart disease by taking a walk along the waterfront at 9:00 a.m. (REGISTER)

Saturday afternoon it’s an invasion of Corgis as Queen Elizabeth’s favorite canine breed comes to CityFair for a special meet and greet mix-up in front of the Dick’s Auto Group Community Stage (1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.). This adorable, cuddly display of pre-registered Corgis is a presentation of the Portland, Oregon Corgi Meet-Up Group: Bringing Corgi Owners and Lovers Together!

Also in the afternoon at 2:00 p.m. feel the power of the big band sound as the people’s favorite, the One More Time Around Again Marching Band presented by Carl’s Jr., holds a special pre-parade open air concert at the Salmon Street Fountain.

Saturday evening the pace picks up as the annual Toyota Starlight Run warms up the parade crowd with the popular costumed fun-run starting at 6:30 p.m., followed by the CareOregon Starlight Parade stepping off at 8:00 p.m., next to CityFair on Naito Parkway.

CareOregon Starlight Parade Grand Marshal, Poison Waters, leads the Rose Festival Court presented by Unitus Community Credit Union, and a line of march featuring more than 20 bands, 30 floats and dozens of special entries! Televised Live on FOX 12 Oregon at 8:30 p.m., the parade wraps up with the famous Clean and Green Team of volunteers showcasing the Festival’s commitment to environmental stewardship.
