3 miles of fun in downtown Portland on June 6, 2026!

Portland’s most popular fun run, the Starlight Run, is the wacky warm-up act for the CareOregon Grand Floral Starlight Parade starts and finishes on Naito Parkway at Rose Festival's CityFair.

The 48th Annual Starlight Run will start at 5:30 p.m. The traditional costume contest will be held at 4:30 p.m. The route will follow the path of the CareOregon Grand Floral Starlight Parade and operate as an out-and-back course.

Schedule:*

3:00 pm: Bib Pick-Up Opens
4:00 pm: Costume Contests Pre-Judging Begins
4:30 pm: Costume Contest
5:30 pm: Race Begins

Costume Contest

A costume contest will be held prior to race time. Start planning your winning costume now! Top prizes for the individual adult category. Dressing to match the Rose Festival theme is encouraged. The 2026 Rose Festival Theme is "Imagine Magic."

CATEGORIES

Youth Individual
Singles only, individuals six to 15 years old

Youth Group
2 persons or more ages six to 15

Adult Individual
Singles only, individuals 16 and older

Adult Group
2 persons or more ages 16 and older

Costume judging schedule (subject to change):
3:30 pm - Entrants arrive at screening area (west of stage closest to Yamhill St. entrance to CityFair)
4:00 pm - Final judging (top 6 contestants in each category)

RULES

You must be a registered participant in the Starlight Run and be wearing your event bib number to enter the costume contest.
To qualify for the final round of competition on stage at 3:00 p.m., you must be present at the pre-judging area at 2:30 p.m.
Age limitations outlined in “Categories” above will be enforced.
Your costume must be tasteful and appropriate for G (“general”) audiences. We reserve the right to disqualify anyone for inappropriate costumes.
Event judges have the right to refuse entry to anyone.
Audience applause will assist in determining the winners, but the judge’s decision is final.
Late arrivals will NOT be allowed in the final round of competition at 4:00 p.m.

PARKING SUGGESTIONS

Here are a few suggestions for parking near CityFair and the Starlight Run Start/Finish. We also highly encourage arrival by TriMet!

-Smart Park - SW 1st & Jefferson, SW 3rd & Morrison, SW 4th & Yamhill (arrive early - 4th Ave closes by 3:30 pm through the duration of the parade)
-World Trade Center Parking Garage - 56 SW Taylor St (arrive very early - SW Naito Parkway will be closed by 12:30 pm through the duration of the parade)
-ABM Parking Services - 121 SW 4th Ave. (arrive early, 4th Ave closes by 3:30 pm through the duration of the parade), and US Bankcorp Tower Parking (111 SW 5th Ave)
121 SW 4th Ave parking structure has enhanced safety features, with rollup gates that open for vehicles only, and a ticket barcode reader to access the elevator lobby
