Rose Festival Introduces Spring Training Treasure Hunt Series

Festival Hides Four Treasures in Lead-Up to Traditional Rose Festival Treasure Hunt

A new promotional campaign to highlight the Rose Festival's popular annual Treasure Hunt is opening 'Spring Training' for novice and first-time hunters. In a lead-up to the Festival's big hunt at the end of May, four six-day hunts will focus attention on individual counties in the Metro area beginning Tuesday, April 20. Treasures in the form of an exclusive Rose Festival Hope pin (generously donated by Ramsay Signs) are packed in small canisters and hidden in: Multnomah, Clackamas, and Washington Counties in Oregon, and Clark County in Washington State.

Clues are written not only to help people learn how to hunt, but to also explore the individual histories and geography of the counties that are part of the Rose Festival Family. The four Training Hunts will run for six days each beginning April 20 and ending May 16. Clues to each hunt will be available daily at 10:00 a.m. at RoseFestival.org.

Spring Training Hunt Schedule:

  • Multnomah: Tuesday, April 20 - Sunday, April 25
  • Clackamas: Tuesday, April 27 - Sunday, May 2
  • Washington: Tuesday, May 4 - Sunday, May 9
  • Clark (Washington): Tuesday, May 11 - Sunday, May 16

A very popular program that began in 1983, the Rose Festival Treasure Hunt continued until 2005, and then restarted in 2014. A Rose Festival Medallion is hidden on public property in the Portland-metro area. Daily clues are offered to help hunters narrow down the location of the Treasure. These clues make reference to local history, as well as geography. Often they are so obscure that they generate lots of “water cooler talk” among casual observers and hunters alike, as they try to decipher the meaning of clues!

After experiencing the Spring Training Hunts, join the search for the Medallion, in the Traditional Rose Festival Treasure Hunt (starting May 30, 2021).
