Curtis Informs Foundation Board at Annual Spring Meeting Thursday Evening
After 25 years with the Portland Rose Festival, Chief Executive Officer Jeff Curtis, is stepping aside to pursue new career challenges. Curtis, who began his career with the festival as a sales manager before being promoted to Chief Executive Officer, has made the decision not to renew his contract this coming October. Jeff will be pursuing opportunities where he can continue to merge his personal desires and interests, with his professional ambitions and abilities. In the meantime, Jeff will continue to work as CEO for the next five months.
Jeff Curtis says, "The Portland Rose Festival is in such a strong position. After 18 years as the Rose Festival CEO, I feel this is a good time to step away. The Rose Festival has given me the opportunity to gain a wealth of insight into the shared challenges and rewards of the events profession. With the tremendous board leadership and talented staff -- plus strong support from our partners, sponsors, and the City of Portland -- I feel very comfortable knowing that I will be leaving the Rose Festival in capable hands."
Jeff's stable and consistent leadership style, emphasizes collaboration and teamwork to achieve the Rose Festival's continued prominence in both the Portland community and the people-centric world of special events. As a former chair of the International Festivals & Events Association -- the trade organization for the world's great events -- Jeff has a wealth of insight into the shared challenges and rewards of the events profession.
Portland Rose Festival Foundation President, Dave Todd said the board of directors was notified at the annual Spring Board meeting Thursday evening. "As the Rose Festival's CEO for the past 18 years, Jeff has seen the Festival through many challenges, from a struggling economy to a world pandemic," said Todd. "Under his leadership, the Festival transitioned to a 501(c)3 nonprofit, and was named the Official Festival of the City of Portland. We are extremely proud of Jeff's service to the Festival and wish him the very best as he moves on with his life pursuits."
