Back in June of 2007, the Rose Festival presented a cinematic event -- the premiere of its long-anticipated film, "From One Rose." This movie is an unforgettable sojourn through a century of celebration, as seen both through the lens of the camera and the eyes of young people. Student Producers selected from local high schools worked side-by-side with local professionals with award-winning results.
On Saturday, June 7, at the Historic Hollywood Theatre, the Portland Rose Festival will host a screening of their Centennial Motion Picture, "From One Rose."
Prior to the screening, Donna Parker (of the Columbia River Organ Club) will be on hand to provide some pre-show entertainment, and accompany the antics of local vaudeville showman and comedian, Angel Ocasio.
Tickets for the event are $10 and can be purchased through any Ticketmaster outlet, online here at this site, or by calling Carol Ross at the Portland Rose Festival at 503.227.2681.
Discount tickets are available for groups of 10 or more through the Rose Festival office!
"From One Rose" is a cinematic journey through the life of a woman born at the turn of the century in Portland, Oregon, who grows up with the Rose Festival. Viewers experience the evolution of a wild west stump town into a modern metropolis. Portland -- one of the country's most livable cities -- is seen through the Roaring 20's, the Great Depression, two world wars, the baby boomer generation and into the 21st Century.
From the Lewis and Clark Centennial in 1905 to the Portland Rose Festival Centennial in 2007, this story takes us on a journey of discovery about nature, self-awareness, human rights and civic pride -- all through the passion and endurance of one unique woman.
