The 2012 Rose Festival Court Scholarship Program application process is now closed. Thank you to all the participating students and schools! Eligible candidates who have submitted an application MUST attend ONE of the following orientation sessions:

- Saturday, January 21, 10:00 a.m. -- Providence St. Vincent Medical Center East Pavilion Wing (Main Floor) - Souther Auditorium

- Tuesday, January 24, 7:00 p.m. - 2 World Trade Center Auditorium SW First & SW Salmon - Portland, Oregon

To be eligible for the Rose Festival Court, candidates must:
- Be Female
- Attend a 4A, 5A or 6A high school in Multnomah, Washington or Clackamas counties
- Be a senior graduating in June 2012 or a junior on track to graduate in June 2013
- Have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (applicants with GPA between 2.75 and 3.0 with exigent circumstances may still be eligible, complete the variance form included with this application)
- Have a verifiable minimum of 20 hours community service performed during high school
- Submit a complete application by January 6, 2012 (see below)
- Attend one mandatory orientation session in January 2012 (see below)
- Participate in the Court Selection process (see below)
Orientation Sessions (January):
Candidates will be notified if they meet eligibility criteria by January 13, 2012. Eligible candidates must attend one of three orientation sessions scheduled in January: January 18, January 21 or January 24, 2012
(Times and locations will be included in eligibility notification.)
Court Selection Process (February/March):
Rose Festival Court applicants are judged in one or more sessions at designated locations by a panel of judges from the community, selected by Rose Festival Board of Directors. Candidates will need to memorize a speech on the designated topic and answer impromptu questions in an interview setting. The selected Court Member will be announced on the Announcement Day for her school. If the selected Court Member is unable to serve, there is no runner-up. Judges will evaluate candidates based on the following criteria:
- Character (50%): Demonstrates good citizenship, community-minded, involved in school and other activities, shows desires to help others.
- Communication Skills (25%): Good verbal skills, speaks clearly, expresses herself appropriately, creative speech content, correct grammar, good eye contact.
- Presence (25%): Poised under pressure, prepared for speech and interview, enthusiastic, sincere, comfortable with herself, appropriate grooming.
