Rose Festival’s Rose Cup Gets Extra Gass
The Oldest Amateur Road-Racing Event West of the Mississippi River Starts on Friday, June 13
Fathers Day weekend at the 54th annual Rose Cup at Portland International Raceway gets a boost of GASS with the addition of Great American Stockcar Series. This new event in the Portland Rose Festival’s final big weekend features identically prepared NASCAR-like V8 cars built in Portland. The Rose Cup Races opens today with qualifying rounds and races, and goes through Sunday with the big trophy races.
The Rose Cup Races features three days of premier auto racing excitement, June 13 through June 15, at Portland International Raceway. This race has been popular with West Coast racing enthusiasts for more than five decades, and features more than 400 Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) and amateur drivers in more than 25 different classes of race cars.
Highlights of the Rose Cup Races:
The Festival Trophy Race showcasing the very competitive Spec Miatas, one of the largest classes within the SCCA.
Pro Drive is sponsoring the Pro Drive Racing Challenge for the very popular Spec Racer Fords.
Topping off the weekend will be the very exciting and very fast go-karts of the Portland Karting Association.
The AAA Wemme Trophy Race features the Vintage run group in honor of the first cars that raced in Portland.
In addition to the high-speed on track racing, the Rose Cup Races will host the Cruise-In presented by Curtiss-Wright on Sunday, June 15.
