Starlight Weekend Will Bring in the Crowds

The Starlight Run Changes Course and Starts Earlier

Rose Festival CityFair reopens Friday, May 31 (3:00 p.m. to 11:00) with great food, entertainment and Funtastic Rides. Free admission on Friday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.

Friday:
Catch Classic Summer Night presented by 106.7, The Eagle featuring Eagle Eyes — The Eagles Tribute — and Stone In Love — a Journey Tribute — at 7:00 p.m. (free with admission to CityFair).

Saturday:
Festival events start off with the American Heart Association Heart & Stroke Walk stepping off at 8:00 a.m. at Waterfront Park near CityFair. The One More Time Around Again Marching Band celebrating their 35th year puts on a full concert at the Oregon Zoo at 4:00 p.m. and then the night heats up!

CityFair weekend theme is Science Fiction/Video Games. Featured all weekend: Funtastic Traveling Shows Carnival, Game-on Arcade, Kids Zone, Jim Neal Memorial Museum, Chloe Cabana and Widmer Brothers Side Bar. On Saturday only fans can try the Starlight Scavenger Hunt and experience Pokemon Go Day.

The Portland Timbers will debut the new and improved Providence Park stadium with a home match against rival Los Angeles FC at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Adding their number of fans to the 300,000 plus Starlight Parade fans will mean more people will be on the streets of Portland than previous years! To honor the Timbers home opener, the Rose Festival will welcome fans wearing Timbers gear following the game to CityFair for FREE (after 9:00 p.m. ONLY) Parade and Timbers fans are strongly encouraged to use public transportation.

The Starlight Run has a new start and finish line, now located at CityFair on Naito. Runners will still use the parade route, but now enter and exit on Harvey Milk Street off 4th Avenue. The Run will also start at a new time: 7:00 p.m. (the run should be through the route by 8:00 p.m.) For Starlight Run registration LEARN MORE

The Starlight Parade
The Portland General Electric/SOLVE Starlight Parade is lead by Grand Marshal David Bailey, a retired 50-year teacher from Lincoln High School. The parade features four sections of colorful entertainment: the Spirit of the West presented by Spirit Mountain Casino, Stars In Lights, Portlandia presented by CareOregon, and Let’s Light It Up presented by Oregon 811.

The PGE/SOLVE Starlight Parade will also feature the 2019 Rose Festival Court, plus 39 float style entries, 12 marching groups and 19 bands. Before the parade, Portland Police will once again be enabling young artist of all ages by handing out street chalk on the parade route, donated by Mighty Hawk Concessions. In another special pre-parade promotion, KIND Bars will be distributed free along the Parade route. The Starlight Parade steps off at 8:30 p.m. and can be seen on KPTV/FOX12 at 9:00 p.m.
